Some paralegals like to hand off a case once it gets interesting. This role is for someone who wants to stay on it from the first filing through the last post-trial motion and periodically working at the courthouse when the case goes to trial.
About the opportunity
An established international law firm is adding a Litigation Paralegal to its team in Dallas, Texas. You would be in office 4 days a week, with flexible hours if needed. You’ll be a trusted partner to the attorneys on complex matters, and your trial experience will be valued and leveraged. They are seeking someone who can own a case’s many moving parts, anticipate what the team needs before they ask, and keep things calm and organized when deadlines stack up.
What you’ll do
- Support attorneys on every stage of litigation, from case intake through post-trial briefing and appeal
- Run the discovery process to include preparing for depositions, drafting and answering written discoveries, getting ready for expert discovery, and leading document reviews and productions while keeping the team informed on progress
- Turn the record into something useful by summarizing depositions and court transcripts, writing witness interview memos, building coding tools, and doing legal and fact research using Westlaw and Lexis
- Draft routine pleadings, motions, and notices, then assemble exhibits, manage filings, and cite-check and proofread briefs so every filing is accurate and follows the court’s rules
- Take charge of trial prep: build trial notebooks, organize exhibits, coordinate witnesses, and work with opposing counsel, court staff, and presentation vendors
We are looking for someone with 7+ years as a Litigation Paralegal at a law firm, handling complex matters with real trial experience, including exhibit and witness prep, subpoenas, and helping attorneys in the courtroom. A bachelor’s degree (a paralegal certificate from an accredited program is preferred, and equivalent experience will be considered). In addition, would like for you to have experience with Relativity, Opus 2, Adobe Acrobat, e-filing systems, and Microsoft Office
You’ll do well here if you’re organized under pressure, can handle several matters at once with little supervision, pick up new technology quickly, and stay steady when priorities change by the hour.
