Some law firms say associates get real responsibility. This one actually means it.
This is a rare opportunity to join one of Dallas's most respected boutiques — a firm that has spent four decades building a national reputation at the intersection of tax law and white-collar criminal defense. When the DOJ comes knocking, when the IRS Criminal Investigation Division opens a file, when a Fortune 100 executive needs someone who genuinely understands both the criminal exposure and the underlying tax law, this is the call. The firm's roster includes a deep bench of those that have been prosecutors and tried cases in federal courts across the country. These are the people you'll be working beside — and learning from — on day one.
This isn't a firm where associates disappear into document review for three years waiting for a seat at the table. You'll have client contact early. You'll contribute to strategy. You'll do work that matters, on matters that are genuinely complex, and you'll be trusted with it.
You'll work across the full arc of white-collar matters — from the moment a government investigation surfaces through resolution, whether that means a declination, a negotiated outcome, or trial. Day to day, that looks like:
- Leading and supporting internal investigations, including witness interviews and document analysis
- Researching and advising on federal and state regulatory frameworks across DOJ, SEC, and IRS enforcement matters
- Drafting motions, briefs, pleadings, and legal memoranda — work that gets read and used
- Interfacing with clients, government agencies, and opposing counsel
- Contributing to trial preparation, hearings, and depositions alongside senior trial attorneys
- Collaborating with partners on case strategy and risk assessment from early in the matter
- J.D. with strong academic credentials and 3–5+ years in white collar defense, government investigations, or complex federal litigation
- Texas Bar admission (or eligibility to waive in)
- Experience interfacing with the DOJ, SEC, IRS, or other regulatory bodies is a real plus
- Exceptional writing and analytical ability — this firm's work product sets the standard
- The judgment and discretion to handle sensitive, high stakes matters
The firms that handle this caliber of work are usually much larger — and at those firms, you wait. Here, the matters are just as sophisticated, the names across the table are just as serious, but you're not a small piece of a large machine. You're a meaningful contributor on a focused team.
The firm is also candid about where this path leads: they want you to grow, and partnership is a real goal — not a vague promise. The culture is collaborative without being political, and the firm has the kind of long-tenured attorneys who take mentorship seriously because they were mentored the same way.
- Competitive base salary + performance bonus
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) with firm contribution
- Generous PTO and dedicated professional development support
