Austin opportunity!
If you’re the person attorneys trust when a filing deadline is closing in and the exhibit list just changed again, you will love this role. This is not a pure assistant seat. You’ll draft, run document reviews, manage trial prep, and own the moving parts of complex commercial litigation from the first complaint through post-trial. Add a collaborative team, competitive pay, and a strong benefits package at a firm that genuinely takes care of its people, and it’s a role worth making a move for.
About the Opportunity
Our client, a global law firm, is adding an experienced Legal Support Specialist to its Austin litigation team. You’ll work alongside attorneys on sophisticated commercial matters, often touching banking and finance, real estate, and M&A disputes. The team values initiative: people who anticipate what’s needed next, solve problems without waiting to be asked, and keep things accurate when the pace picks up. The firm is also actively bringing AI tools like Microsoft Copilot into daily work, so you’ll have room to work smarter, not just faster. Very competitive salary and benefits.
What You’ll Do
- Draft and file briefs, complaints, motions, subpoenas, and summonses using firm templates and attorney input
- Coordinate multi-document filings and e-filings in federal, circuit, and state courts
- Support discovery: prepare for depositions, draft and respond to written discovery, and assist with expert discovery
- Manage large-scale document reviews and productions, tracking progress and reporting results
- Lead trial preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness schedules, and trial calendars, and communicate with opposing counsel and courtroom staff
- Perform and oversee cite checking and proofreading of briefs and other filings
- Use e-discovery and case management platforms to keep matters organized and moving
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, travel, and billable time entry
What We’re Looking For
Must-haves:
- 5+ years of litigation support experience, ideally in commercial litigation
- Hands-on experience with large document reviews and productions
- Strong command of court filing rules and procedures
- Working knowledge of litigation documents: pleadings, motions, judgments, affidavits, appeals, tables of contents and authorities
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and a quick learner on new software
- Sharp attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion with confidential information
- Flexibility to work additional hours when case deadlines require
Nice-to-haves:
- Bachelor’s degree (equivalent experience is welcome)
- Exposure to banking/finance, real estate, or M&A matters
- Comfort with, or curiosity about, AI tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT
