Patent Prosecution Paralegal | Downtown Austin, TX | Onsite with One Remote Day/Week
If you're an IP paralegal who wants real ownership of a docket, not just a seat in a big department, this one's worth a look. You'd work directly with a highly respected, in-demand IP shareholder who is looking to build out the team and wants a real collaborator in that process.
About the Opportunity
Our client is a global, top-100 law firm with a growing intellectual property practice in a great downtown Austin location. This is a brand new role created to support the practice's continued growth, which means you'll have real input into how the position takes shape. You'll work closely with the IP shareholder and a newly added associate, with the flexibility of one remote day per week.

What You'll Do
- Manage and organize a U.S. patent docket across multiple matters, with close attention to filing deadlines
- eFile Provisional, Utility, Continuation, Divisional, Design, and PCT/national stage applications
- Draft Office Action response shells and assist with prosecution submissions
- Handle assignment searches, recordings, and chain of title review
- Calculate Patent Term Adjustments and process Issue Fee payments
- Prepare and file Information Disclosure Statements
- Support client communication on deadlines, formalities, and filing status
- Correspond with foreign associates and manage related invoicing and reporting
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree, Paralegal certificate preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant IP paralegal experience
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. patent rules and procedure; knowledge of PCT and/or national laws of other countries
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills in a deadline-driven environment
- Comfort learning and using firm-approved AI tools as part of daily workflow. This firm sees AI as a way to make good people more efficient, and values people who are willing to embrace and adapt to it
The Details
- Downtown Austin
- Standard business hours, generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some earlier starts, non-exempt with occasional overtime during busier filing periods
- Onsite with one remote day per week
